Direct Educational Support

One scholarship, one child in class

A scholarship means a child from the home starts every morning in a classroom at Daystar Nursery School, with their fees covered and their teachers' support. With no public school nearby, that is what opens the way forward. Choose a scholarship and follow their progress up close.

Three scholarships, depending on what you can give each term

Each scholarship includes everything in the one before and adds a little more.

  • Pupils in uniform raising their hands in class, with the teacher in the background

    Essential scholarship

A whole term in the classroom: a place at Daystar Nursery School and teachers who follow closely how the child learns.

    • School enrolment
    • Pedagogical support from the Daystar team
    • A private supporter space to get to know the child
  • Pupils in uniform with their backpacks lined up in front of the school classrooms, seen from behind

    Complete scholarship

The child arrives in class in their own uniform, with their own exercise books and pencils, like everyone else.

Everything in the Essential scholarship, plus:

    • School uniform
    • School materials and supplies
  • Painted facade of the children's home in Diani, Kenya

    Comprehensive scholarship

Beyond the classroom, food for the child's home: rice, sugar and ugali flour, the staples of any kitchen in Diani.

Everything in the Complete scholarship, plus:

    Food, once a term:

    • 10 kg of rice
    • 10 kg of sugar
    • 10 kg of ugali (maize flour)

The Essential scholarship does not include the uniform or school supplies: if you choose it, at the start of the school year we ask, if you can, for some help buying them. Shoes and sportswear are not part of any scholarship.

Getting to know the child

Private Space

A private space to get to know the child you support, with the news, photos or letters the team shares when there are some.

100% of your contribution reaches the home and the school

No commissions, no fees, nothing extra: all the money goes to the home and the school.

Edurne, founder of the Boost Watoto Wema foundation, travels to Diani three or four times a year and is in direct contact with the school's head teacher and with Gladys.

Privacy & Transparency

A private space to get to know the child

Everyone who supports a scholarship has a private space where they can get to know the child they accompany. When there is news, photos or letters, the team shares them there, and you can also write letters mediated by the team.
